This is the Tesla Musk is selling to Wall Street, and he's telling anyone with doubts to stay away. "If somebody doesn't believe Tesla's going to solve autonomy, I think they should not be an investor in the company," Musk said on the earnings call. In a shareholder deck that Tesla published before the call, the company featured a "preview of ride-hailing in the Tesla app." At an AI Day in August 2021, Musk said Tesla would build a humanoid robot, now known as Optimus. "No matter what, even if I got kidnapped by aliens tomorrow, Tesla will solve autonomy, maybe a little slower but it would solve autonomy for vehicles at least," Musk said.

Tesla is laying off 285 employees in the state of New York as part of a broader restructuring according to a WARN notice filed in the state. Most of these employees worked at the company's Buffalo factory and a handful at a store and service center in the area per the filing. Tesla took over the Buffalo factory after they completed a $2.6 billion acquisition of solar installer SolarCity in 2017. While Tesla said it would manufacture solar panels at the Buffalo factory, its efforts to grow its solar business have faltered through the years.

DETROIT (AP) — Tesla sales fell sharply last quarter as competition increased worldwide, electric vehicle sales growth slowed, and price cuts failed to draw more buyers. In its letter to investors in January, Tesla predicted “notably lower” sales growth this year. In March it temporarily knocked $1,000 off the Model Y, its top-selling vehicle. During the quarter, Tesla lost production time in Germany after a suspected arson attack cut its power supply. But sales growth slowed toward the end of the year.

Deliveries are the closest approximation of sales reported by Tesla but are not precisely defined in the company's shareholder communications. Tesla's Model 3 is about $4,000 more than that. Aging lineup, early days for Cybertruck While EV sales are still gaining popularity worldwide, the growth rate has slowed. In a push for end-of-quarter sales, Musk recently mandated that all sales and service staff install and demo FSD for customers before they hand over their cars. Despite its name, Tesla's premium option requires a human driver at the wheel, ready to steer or brake at any moment.

Organ told CNBC by phone on Friday, "It took immense courage for Owen Diaz to stand up to a company the size of Tesla. Tesla and the employee, Kyle Kaszuba, must pay more than $42 million in damages to the victim, Christopher Dugan, a Marion County jury said in a Wednesday verdict. The jury found that Dugan was 30% liable for the crash, reducing the award from $60 million to $42 million. The crash occurred while Kaszuba was operating a 2014 Ford vehicle owned by Tesla either with the permission of Tesla or while working in his capacity as a Tesla employee, Dugan alleged in his initial complaint. The gas station near where the crash occurred is located just outside of a ramp to I-465, the ring road that encircles Indianapolis.

OpenAI has challenged a foundational claim Tesla CEO Elon Musk made in the lawsuit he filed against the startup earlier this month. "There is no Founding Agreement, or any agreement at all with Musk, as the complaint itself makes clear," OpenAI said in a document on file with California's superior court for San Francisco County. "The Founding Agreement is instead a fiction Musk has conjured to lay unearned claim to the fruits of an enterprise he initially supported, then abandoned, then watched succeed without him." Musk quoted OpenAI's 2015 certificate of incorporation with the Delaware secretary of state, asserting that it "memorialized" the founding agreement. "Seeing the remarkable technological advances OpenAI has achieved, Musk now wants that success for himself," OpenAI said in its filing.

The cup-and-handle (also known as a cup-with-handle) pattern occurs when you have a rounded basing pattern after a rally phase. Then, in December 2023, both stocks retested their July peak, which formed the cup of this pattern. If this level would fail to hold, then we'll have one more Magnificent 7 stock in a confirmed bearish phase. What concerns me most about these patterns popping up is not just that it suggests caution for these two technology stocks, which I believe it does. BEFORE MAKING ANY FINANCIAL DECISIONS, YOU SHOULD STRONGLY CONSIDER SEEKING ADVICE FROM YOUR OWN FINANCIAL OR INVESTMENT ADVISOR.

Antonio Masiello | Getty ImagesTwo weeks after a Delaware court ruled that Tesla must rescind Elon Musk's $56 billion pay package, the company's board remains mum on what the decision means for shareholders or what's next for the mercurial CEO. CNBC sent requests for additional information to Tesla investor relations, Musk and some board members. "Given the high stakes involved, it is likely that Tesla will appeal the decision," Kastiel said in an email. In the absence of a successful appeal, "any new compensation arrangement with him will have to be assessed" in light of McCormick's decision, Kastiel said. Kastiel also said that the decision likely makes Musk and Tesla more vulnerable to other types of lawsuits.

STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) — A California judge on Friday ordered Tesla Inc. to pay $1.5 million as part of a settlement of a civil case alleging the company mishandled hazardous waste at its car service centers, energy centers and a factory, multiple county district attorneys announced. The complaint filed in San Joaquin County alleged illegal disposal of hazardous waste and violation of laws involving storage and management of the waste, according to statements from several of 25 district attorneys offices in California involved in the case. The district attorneys' statements said Tesla cooperated with the investigation and acted to improve compliance with laws that were brought to its attention by the prosecutors. “Electric vehicles play a role in environmental betterment, yet it’s imperative to recognize that their production and maintenance yield detrimental waste," said San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas. Tesla owns and operates approximately 57 car service centers and 18 solar energy facilities in California, and manufactures electric vehicles in the San Francisco Bay Area city of Fremont.

Tesla will pay a fee of $1.5 million to settle a civil lawsuit alleging the company mishandled hazardous waste materials at facilities throughout the state of California for years. District attorneys representing the people of 25 California counties had filed their lawsuit, The People of the State of California v. Tesla Inc., earlier in the week in a state court in San Joaquin County. The suit also alleged that Tesla frequently failed to properly label containers of hazardous materials that it generated, used or stored at its facilities, and failed to train employees in proper handling of hazardous waste. In addition to the settlement fee, Tesla will need to "comply with a detailed injunction for five years," according to the statement. The audits will continue for five years and involve inspections of Tesla's trash containers for hazardous waste, the statement from Jenkins said.

The bombshell, 200-page Delaware court ruling Tuesday ordering Tesla to undo its massive $56 billion compensation package for CEO Elon Musk features descriptions of a lawyer holding back tears, a reference to "Frankenstein" and a cringey self-driving car pun. And then there's a whole section about Mars — the planet — and Musk's belief that he has "a moral obligation" to use his incredible wealth to help colonize it to help "save humanity." That wealth is on track, barring a successful appeal, to be significantly reduced by a ruling issued by Chancery Court Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick. Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who also owns the social network X (formerly known as Twitter), said Monday that he wants about 25% of voting control over his electric vehicle business. Now, Musk is angling for even more control over Tesla. Specifically, Musk wrote on Monday, "I am uncomfortable growing Tesla to be a leader in AI & robotics without having ~25% voting control. "Unless that is the case, I would prefer to build products outside of Tesla," the billionaire executive said on X. Tesla unveiled an early Optimus prototype at Tesla AI Day in September that year, and Musk said in a post around that event: "The point of AI Day is to show the immense depth & breadth of Tesla in AI, compute hardware & robotics."

Workers at state-owned postal company PostNord joined the strike on Nov. 20 and stopped distributing the license plates to Tesla. The state-run transport agency turned down Tesla's request to pick up the license plates itself and also declined to send them via distribution channels other than PostNord. Tesla sued both PostNord and the transport agency in two separate lawsuits, first reported by Swedish business daily Dagens Industri. It said the refusal to deliver license plates could affect "a large number of consumers who ordered a new car from Tesla". The transport agency confirmed to Reuters on Monday that Tesla had filed a lawsuit, believing the agency had not kept its obligations to deliver Tesla's license plates.
